The refined and rare console table, made by the famous Maison Baguès manufactory, consists of an oval shaped top in Turquin Blue Marble, from the blue grey colouration and from a structure in gilded bronze finely chiselled with the characteristic decorations of the French manufacturer.
The underlay is smooth, peculiarities that gives elegance and gracefulness to the whole. The six legs consist of single legs at the side ends and in pairs for the four most central legs. The structure is worked in bronze with palm motifs and end with goat’s foot sabot feet. The legs are joined by curved crossbars that join to the center. Even this type of architecture is characteristic of the manufacture; however the architectural ensemble of the console is rare and difficult to find on the antique market.
The world-famous Parisian company Maison Baguès has created lighting and furniture works famous all over the world and is now recognized as synonymous with elegance and refinement. Baguès was born in Auvergne around 1840 and specialized in bronze works. The society developed considerably at the end of the nineteenth century, with the advent of electricity, with objects for lighting.
This console table can be placed in the center of an environment as well finished in all its sides. It stands out for the elegance of the line, very graceful, for the brightness of gold and light marble and for the modernity of a design that will never be obsolete and that knows how to dialogue with antique and contemporary furniture.
