Offered by Galerie de Cicco
In chased, patinated and gilded bronze.
Provenance: France - private Parisian collection.
Bronze gilded with mercury and original patina, finely chiseled.
The Medici-shaped vases present a griffin on either side, the body is underlined in its lower part with large stylized leaves; the vases rest on a flared pedestal cushioned by a square-shaped base with a brown patina decorated with stylized heads.
They are covered with a gilt bronze ogee cover pierced with palmettes, with leaves and seeds at the top.
The quality of the gilding treated in matte and shiny, as well as a precise and removed carving, makes this pair of vases a perfect example of the best productions of the Empire, probably by a prestigious and renowned workshop.
