Oil on canvas representing the Holy Family with Saint Anne and an angel.
Three heads of Cherubs constitute the background, a woman's face painted in shades of gray wearing a string of pearls at the back.
The Holy Family is the name given to the family composed of Jesus of Nazareth and his parents, Mary and Joseph. "The shepherds came in haste and found Mary and Joseph with the newborn child lying in a manger" (Luke, 2).
It symbolizes the family virtues for the Christians. A recurring theme in paintings, even though the cult of Mary only dates from 1665, she can be represented in the company of Saint Elizabeth or Saint Anne.
Roman school of the 2nd half of the 18th century.
