Able bell in bronze by Alexandre Charpentier
Born into a humble family, Alexandre Charpentier studied at the Beaux-Arts de Paris in 1873, in the medallion engraving workshop.
He actively participated in the artistic life of his time and was very successful in Belgium. He took advantage of one of his trips to visit Zeeland, a place that marked him and from which he produced a series of lithographs.
This table bell, a charming everyday object, bears the artist's infatuation for the region. It was presented at the fourth Salon de la Libre Esthétique in 1897 and acquired by the Belgian State.
