Iznik siliceous ceramic tile with polychrome decoration painted under colorless glaze of floral motifs turning on a white background in a poly-lobed central medallion and around plant motifs and saz leaves on a turquoise background.
Turkey, Ottoman Empire, reign of Sultan Murad III, circa 1575, second half of the 16th century.
Dimensions : 25 x 25 cm.
One corner restored and glued back in three pieces.
To be compared with a tile from the tomb of Sultan Selim II in Ayasofya.
