Beautiful pair of silver plated bronze torches with a baluster shaft. The round base and the shaft are decorated with gadroons and twisted gadroons. The ornamentation allows us to date the torches to 1740, at the beginning of the Louis XV period. It should be noted that these torches are a true pair, and that they have never been drilled for electricity. The screw threads that allow the assembly of the barrels and the bases are original. It is possible that these torches have been re-silvered in the 20th century, which does not detract from the value of these fine objects.
