Offered by Matthew Holder
A mixed marble and bronze bust of a woman.
Italian, 19th century and earlier.
Measures 63cm high including green marble socle.
The white marble head is probably 19th century and set in a veined grey and red Africano marble bust and bronze drape in the 17th or 18th centuries.
The head has been attached to the shoulders with overpainted plaster fill, which has cracked below the back of the neck. There is a crack with a small loss at the centre of the marble shoulders below the bronze drape. There are some small areas of restoration to the marble shoulders, as well as stable original joints. There is plaster fill at the back throughout.
