17th & 18th centuries Furniture and Statuary
Sculpted alabaster plaque with gold highlights illustrating the scene of the Annunciation during which the Angel Gabriel announces to Mary his Maternity, carrying in her bosom the Son of God.
On the right, the Virgin kneeling in front of her desk turns humbly towards the Angel Gabriel, her wings widely deployed.
This one seems to come down from the heavens holding in his left hand the messenger stick in the form of a scepter with the flowered end.
The composition is based on an architectural background, while in the foreground, a dog and an antique vase receiving flowers, add to the charm of the scene.
Very nice original ''à pastilla'' frame decorated with interlacing.
Dimensions with frame: H. 23 cm x W. 20 cm
Dimensions of the alabaster: H. 12 cm x L. 10 cm
