Selection of furniture from the 16th to the 19th century
Rare Provençal hunting or presentation buffet in solid walnut.
This slightly curved piece of furniture on the front opens with two large leaves separated by a frame. Each leaf is molded with large sinuous asymmetrical reserves. Note that the two leaves are symmetrical. Their upper part is decorated with scrolls of flowers of gadrooned foliage.
The low scalloped and openwork crosspiece has a bouquet of peonies in its center framed by gadrooned scrolls and foliage. At the ends, the two sculpted uprights end in softly curved feet. The sides with a more complex "S" curve have side panels with stylized chapel motifs.
At the top, the large richly veined turquin blue marble with corbin beak crowns this original piece of furniture with particularly successful subtle and vegetal ornamentation.
18th century Provençal work.
