This charming panel of a gothic oak chest has a beautifully carved "flamboyant gothic" (15th century) decoration with detailed ogive windows, topped by interlaced rosettes ending with an elegant pinnacle. Beneath this architecture is an animal, probably a boar. The combination of the geometric architectural decoration with the wild animal is quite unique: could the panel have come from a chest with weapons for hunting? Beautiful shiny patina.

A great reminder of the existential truth in the final scene of ‘The Big Lebowski’: “Sometimes you eat the boar, sometimes the boar eats you”.
