If Italy was not familiar with the dresser, it created a specific exhibition piece, the credenza. Originally a simple table, it is transformed into a low cabinet.
It plays the role of a sideboard in the small dining rooms, fashionable in the hight social classes for the Quattrocento ; or the dressing table, on which we put the ewer and basin in the private rooms.
The body of this sideboard opens with four simply molded doors and rests on a base housing three small drawers and a base cut with volutes.
A very sober piece of furniture, it draws its rhythm and its decor from its structure and form.
