18th Century, Italian Neoclassical Carved and Lacquered Wood Coffee Table
Elegant and refined coffee table, made in Tuscany (Italy) in the Neoclassical era, around the end of the eighteenth century.
The coffee table is in finely carved wood with a classic taste, then lacquered black and gold. The circular top is lacquered simulating Egyptian green porphyry.
The band below the floor, in which a drawer is inserted, is decorated with carvings with branches and golden leaves that intertwine with each other throughout the circumference. Palmette and round frames with male faces in profile and heads of divinity complete the decorative program.
The four truncated pyramid legs are inserted with a concave capital and end with a golden circular tip. Even on the surface of the legs, golden bas-relief sculptures embellish and create a pleasant chromatic contrast.
The coffee table is of graceful size, easily inserted in any context and environment, both in the center of a room, between two sofas or armchairs, and in a corner as a support for bronzes, vases, candelabra or other objects. The dark color and the original contrast with the gold makes this small table perfect next to antique furniture in modern environments.
