Rare light chest of drawers opening with two high drawers with hidden support rail, with front unhooked in plan. On a satin background, it presents a superb marquetry of native veneer in bright and contrasting tones.
The central panel in a medallion suspended by a ring is decorated with ruins in a wooded landscape, on each side a quiver supported by two doves are surrounded by a draped medallion, suspended by a wide ribbon knotted, including the bottom handles of the draw.
The sides present bouquets of flowers in a Greek frame.
Magnificent and rare gilded and chiseled bronzes, sabots with dolphins.
Top of gray veined marble. Transitional period.
Stamp (incomplete) of Jacques Birckle ( 1734 - 1803 )
It carries two marks of furnishing with ducal crown (that I could not identify to date).
Jacques Birckle, supplier of the Garde Meubles under Louis XVI, executed orders of Mesdames Elizabeth and Lamballe, of the Duke of Orleans then by Marie-Antoinette for the castle of Saint Cloud .
