Chased and gilded bronze alcove clock, with rocaille decoration of flowered scrolls, movement with pulling making alarm clock, signed by JP Courtois in Paris, of L.XV period
The cartel of alcove, as its name indicates it, was intended for the rest and thus rang only by pulling on request, not to disturb the sleeper.
If the sleeper wished to know the time, he could pull on the escapement and the cartel would ring the hour and according to... the quarter, the half, or the three quarter.
