17th & 18th centuries Furniture and Statuary
Very beautiful Lyonnaise walnut cabinet, from the early 18th century, opening with two doors with deep and sinewy moldings.
The whole is richly carved with foliage, arabesques, acanthus leaves, shells ...
The top crossbar, curved, presents an elegant decoration carved with “Rocaille” plant motifs, framing a large shell. It is topped with a "double revolution" cornice
This elegant cabinet rests on a molded cornice supported, at the front, by original "ball" feet.
It has retained all of its original ironwork (its keyhole, its lock, its two internal cremones, its hinges) as well as its wrought iron key with a typically Lyon triangular section. We find the "mark" of the master locksmith on one of the cremones: I. Pierre Varnez
