A set of four Louis XV painted armchairs by Louis-Michel Lefèvre 18th cent.

Suite of four armchairs, Louis XV period stamped Louis-Michel Lefèvre in carved beech wood, molded, and lacquered curviform form. Dedicated to furnish the reception room of a Parisian mansion, here everything is elegance, charm and voluptuousness, the shaft of these seats lives in a single jet; its visual is fluid and harmonious. Everything is curves and roundness, from the flat back to the queen nicely violoné to the seat as wide as comfortable, from the belt all in energetic curve and counter-curve, to the divergent armrests embellished with padded cuffs without forgetting the supports in consoles to whip implanted in gallant withdrawal until the fine and cambered base, raised of a set of double moldings nothing alters this elegant visual. The set of moldings enhanced with fine and delicate flowers and foliage volubile decorating the top of the back or emerging from the center of the belt and the base of the armrests give this pair of seats all its letters of nobility. The carvings are vivid and deep with sharp reliefs in order to receive the multiple encompassments of the lacquer. It is to note the great care brought to the elements of connection of an irreproachable quality. Balance, nervousness, elegance and quality are the most appropriate terms for these seats so representative of the first period of the reign of Louis XV.
The stamp of Louis-Michel Lefèvre is stamped under the rear crossbar of the belt on each of the four seats.
Observations : Excellent condition, use and maintenance restorations such as; resumption of the original lacquer, total repair of the upholstery and fabrics (Maison Pierre Frey) as well as preventive treatment.
A similar model of a series of six, from the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, is represented in Le mobilier Français, les sièges by Guillaume Janneau éditions Jacques Fréal page 101 photograph 198.
Louis-Michel Lefèvre obtained his master's degree in 1749. Installed in rue Saint-Nicolas where his presence is mentioned until 1791, presumed date of his death, he devoted himself to the manufacture of seats. His seats are all of excellent quality and perfect finish.
