Louis XV period cartel Signed Autray in Paris, in Boulle marquetry on a ground of brown tortoiseshell and partly engraved brass and counterpart with symmetrical decoration of windings, flowers and foliage foliage. Violin-shaped, it opens on the front by a glass door revealing a contrasting decoration of brass and rosewood in accelerated perspective and at the back by a door decorated with brass marquetry on a tortoiseshell background. Beautiful ornamentation of finely chiseled and openwork gilded bronzes presenting in the center on the door, Diana and her dog, on the edges of the framing rods, foliage and dragons, and on the base, busts of characters from the Commedia dell ' arte. The pediment of the cartel is surmounted by a love holding an hourglass and eagle heads, on the console large winged medallions in the angles and deer heads complete the decoration. The dial is composed of twenty-four cartridges enamelled with Roman numerals for the hours and twelve cartridges enamelled with Arabic numerals in increments of five for the minutes, on a chiseled and gilded bronze background. Original movement with its wire suspension, Signed Autray in Paris on the mainplate, in working order, strikes the hours and half-hours. François Autray, master watchmaker in Paris in 1737.
