Japanese Merchant’s Chest (choba-dansu), Region of Matsumoto, Nagano. The front is entirely constructed of lemon wood, completed with keyaki configured with three lower drawers, all of these drawers with ornate lockplate, sliding door compartment, center lock pin, concealing one shelf and three small drawers made of lemon wood and ornate locks. There is a large drawer on top with lock plate, diamond chrysanthemum detail. Iron handles on open work estucheons and iron corner protections.
