Historical annecdote : Woodturning is a technique known since Antiquity. It was the Egyptians who invented the wood lathe around 1300 BC.
In the 17th century, with the Louis XIII style, the turning of furniture elements was very fashionable.
Table legs and spacer, seat uprights and cross members, corner columns, etc. are often turned.
We can then distinguish three turning techniques: string turning, twist turning, and baluster turning (pear, vase or tops)
