First post-mortem edition of the Antelope Dos Rond also called Gazelle or Fearful Biche. Exhibited and cast in bronze in 1928, the Antelope Dos Rond has been studied with varying degrees of success by animal handlers, seduced by its slender forms, but often with mannerism. Here, we will notice the cut of the silhouette in an arabesque curve with a very marked angle at the start of the neck so that it is presented from the front while the animal is in profile. Simplicity of the form, its bounce with the attachments of the very marked members, the concentrated tension are the characteristics of Petersen and here one can speak about his style. Firmness of the line, roundness of the form, study of the moment, tenderness sum up the best of the sculptor making the charm of his first work. “A delicious fearful antelope is a small masterpiece, chiseled with such true tenderness. The great merit of Petersen is that, having loved these animals, he in turn makes us love them in their simplicity ”Extract from the catalog raisonné, by Mme Liliane Colas
