Pendulum called "Religious", in tortoiseshell tinted red and gilded bronzes. The facade is decorated with two detached columns surmounted by a Corinthian capital.
A bronze apron in the form of an openwork drapery completes this prestigious decor characteristic of the Louis XIV style.
We find similar models of pendulum in the book of Daniel Marot "New Book of boxes of pendulums, cocks and cases of watches and others necessary for the orlogeurs"
The movement is original, complete with its wheel escapement and wire suspension.
The enamelled dial with cartridges and the movement bear the signature “B.G Martinot Paris”.

Historical annecdote:
The Martinots are a very long dynasty of watchmakers of the royal family from the end of the 16th to the 18th century.
Its members were skilled craftsmen who succeeded each other as the king's watchmaker.
