Walnut and studded leather
Rare pair of carved walnut and studded leather armchair.
These armchairs display a stark yet very elegant style with a structure still Medieval in spirit and with their high seat.
The facade is marked by an openworked crossbar bearing a decor of three roses. The straight back is topped by two palm leaves - shaped finials. The back and the seat are upholstered with antic leather secured by two rows of brass studs.
The jambs are square shaped. The arm rests adopt a flat and large baluster shape.
Those two exquisitely made armchairs present an ornamental vocabulary typical of the late Renaissance and belong to a certain category of formal and pomp related furniture.
