Offered by Galerie Étienne Lévy
The round shape box is white enamelled with stamped gold foil reliefs partially infilled with translucent green and red enamel.
The lid is decorated with a clock dial within foliage scrolls and enterlacing flowers, the bottom with a flowers bunch and sides adorned with scenes from Jean de la Fontaine Fables.
Silver mounts marked probably for Paris 1750-1751
This kind of enamelled decoration is attributed to German workshops, specially Fromery's one in Berlin, although several boxes are fitted with Parisian mounts.
