Tortoiseshell casket. Italian or Spanish, late 17th century

An ebonised casket veneered with sheets of engraved & gilt tortoiseshell depicting men in a port scene, fencing & playing boulles. The top engraved with a coat of arms ensigned with a coronet and flanked on either side by cherubs. The coat of arms that bears the closest resemblance would be that of Moncada & Aragón.

Italian or Spanish, late 17th century.

Measures 12cm high x 23cm wide x 15cm deep.
