This very rare Chinese export fan is painted a paper sheet on an enameled filigree mounting. The main face shows a a lion in a landscape in a reserve on a gold background decorated with flowers. On the back, birds are represented on a silver background. Seashells are painted on the edge.
The subject of this fan is very rare. It has been made in Canton, for export at the end of the 18th century.
