Late 19th early 20th century painting
An oil on canvas measuring 100X73 cm (without the frame) representing a surreal character signed lower right by Madeleine Melsonn (1905-1978). This surrealist painting was exhibited at the Salon des Independants under the title: "The Scarecrow" in 1936 (REF2346) (door on the back a label of the Salon des Indépendants with the title of the work)
French painter and illustrator born in 1905, died in 1978.
She worked under the pseudonym Madeleine Melsonn, her real name was Suzanne Miellet.
A pupil of Lucien Simon, she exhibited regularly at the Salon d'Automne, the Tuileries and the Salon des Indépendants in Paris.
