Polychrome preserved on the face
This personage with a well marked temper, carved in oak wood, certainly comes from a larger set depicting a scene from the life of the Christ for example.
He is represented with his right arm raised, ready to strike with the object he held in his hand.
He is dressed as a warrior, armor covering the bust, above a long tunic.
Represented in a very realistic manner : mouth open revealing three teeth and wrinkles of age marked on the side of the chin and neck.
He recalls the many faces of the characters represented in the Flemish altarpieces.
