French Furniture and Art Pieces of the 18th century and Empire period
Curious furniture simulating a semainier, in rosewood and amaranth, of the Louis XVI period. We could call it "chiffonnier-secretaire" since it opens with 6 drawers, a writing desk and a side shelf. An ingenious system locks all drawers with a single lock.
Stamped Birckle; Jacques Bircklé (1734-1803) got his master on July 30th, 1764. He is one of the suppliers of the Garde-meuble under Louis XVI.
Conditions report: Restored in our workshop in January-February 2019. Traditional french varnish. Traces of old restorations, bronze falls (bronzes of angle) are not original. Very nice state of conservation.
