Mahogany, rosewood an coloured box tree marquetry writing desk stamped Charles Topino (twice). French Transition production, between Louis XV and Louis XVI periods circa 1770.
The top flap is decorated with a landscape marquetry presenting houses and characters.
The inside rosewood veneer is inlaid with a fine green coloured box tree latice work. The working surface is covered with leather. Inside there are two drawers including the right one for ink, and a cavity /safety box and its key.
On the lower part of our piece, there are 2 doors decorated with antique-style vases filled with flowers. The inside part of the doors are oak veneered with a simple diamond pattern. A sculpted shelf inside and two oak safe boxes.
The landscape background probably used to be blue-coloured and became green over time.
Our writing desk is in excellent condition, fully restored by our cabinet maker with a varnish executed in a traditional way.
