Rectangular case in blown and cut opal crystal. The white opaline called "opaline savonneuse" has a "bamboo point" cut. Its gilded and chiseled bronze frame is decorated with a frieze of flowers. The case is decorated on the sides with medallions or handles in the shape of a "scallop shell" .The entrance of the lock is surrounded by a crown of flowers. The case stands on four winged lion's paw feet. By the quality of its opaline and the great finesse of its gilt bronze decoration this box is representative of the decorative objects produced in the first half of the 19th century.
