Oak, late 16th century, probably Germany, 61 cm. Difficult to identify which saint is depicted here as there are no attributes or other clues to do so. The only keys for identification are the tormented look as well as the inclination of the head which might point towards either a grieving Saint John at the Holy Cross (from a Calvary group) or maybe an agonizing Saint Sebastian.
