Fauteuil in mahogany and mahogany veneer molded and carved with curved backrest, straight armrests adorned with windings, armrests with armrests decorated with swan necks, the wings supporting the cuffs.
It rests on tapered front legs adorned with stylized lotus leaves and hind feet in saber.
Stamp in capital letters preceded by the initial of his first name followed by a point for Pierre Antoine Bellangé (master receipt in 1788).
Empire period around 1805-1810.

The composition of this armchair, particularly armchair swans, was put into fashion at the very end of the eighteenth century by Berthault who used it especially for the decor of Madame Recamier's bed. Subsequently, the architects Percier and Fontaine declined the model that was published in the albums of the Mesangere (illustrated in D. Ledoux-Lebard, "The French furniture of the nineteenth century", Paris, 2000, p.335).
