Medici vase in terra cotta with molded decoration. The gadrooned lip is underlined by an alternation of lion heads and flowers framed by palmettes. A frieze of palmettes surmounts large leaves that decorate the bottom.
Acanthus adorns the pedestal.
This type of vase takes the form of a bell inspired by ancient models on a pedestal. This form of vase is very popular from the Renaissance following the discovery of the Medici vase, exceptional piece of 1.73 meters and richly carved or the Borghese vase.
From the 17th century, this type of craters was produced to decorate gardens and terraces.
