Exceptional large dish, St Jean du désert earthenware signed late 17th cent

Marseille, Manufacture de Saint-Jean du désert

Large earthenware dish decorated in blue with a central scene depicting a lion hunt, the Ottoman hunter wearing a turban and a curved sabre against a landscape background, after an engraving by the Florentine Antonio Tempesta. The wing is decorated with lambrequins.
The reverse bears an exceptional interlaced AC mark for Antoine Clerissy and the inscription "A Saint Jean".
