A Momonari Kabuto type samurai helmet, so called because of its characteristic peach-like shape, made of natural iron.
The visor (mabizashi) is enriched by raised eyebrows, while the front decoration (maedate) features an elegant gold-lacquered crescent moon. The side fins (fukigaeshi) are decorated with the golden mon of the Takenaka clan. The back neck guard (shikoro) is made of three large lacquered plates, while the front guard stands out for its five plates, the last of which is embellished with refined floral motifs in gilded bronze. The entire structure is completed by woven laces in shades of dark blue, brown and ochre.
The menp? mask, in natural iron, is of the ressei type, characterized by a vigorous and determined expression, giving the kabuto an imposing appearance.
Period: Edo late 18th early 19th century.

Conservation status: Excellent general condition. There are slight signs of wear consistent with the age.
