Pigeon Throat Pink Opaline And Gold Vinaigrette

Vinaigrette with a low bottle in hydrangea pink opal crystal. It is cut with 18 large ribs in high relief continuing on the base. These ribs are interspersed in their middle and on the base by two deep grooves. It has a hinged opening stopper in two-color gold chiseled with five flowered branches and set with turquoise. It opens onto its small pierced grid decorated with fleurons. The sealed stopper extends onto the shoulder and is decorated with stylized leaves. A bit of history:
In the 18th and 19th centuries, cities filled up, attracting new citizens with the comfort they could offer, but this was only relative, particularly in the treatment of wastewater and waste. It is still common for basins or chamber pots to be thrown out of the window into the street; admittedly some underground pipes exist, but they are few in number and often clogged. For this, it was necessary to find a system to transport these volatile vinegars to which medicinal virtues are attributed, vinaigrettes were born, from the fly boxes and snuff boxes very common at that time, a modification is made by the addition of a small finely openwork grid, behind which a natural sponge soaked in this substance is protected. The vinaigrettes were then richly decorated with polychrome enamels, hard stones, natural materials, using noble metals.
They then become fashionable objects.
