A large gold and enamel pendant in the manner of Giuseppe Bruno.
Sicilian, late 17th century.
Measures 7 x 6 x 0.3cm (excluding loose bail).
Weighs 31.1 grams.
The heavily enamelled gold pendant in the form of a flower, each section divided by a gold border and decorated with Saints, flowers and views of people, castles and rivers. Large roundels central to each side depict Saint Peter and Saint Rosalia, the other saints depicted are Michael, Francis of Assisi, John the Baptist and the Virgin and Child amongst Cherubim.
In fine condition with some minor restorations to the enamel.
The pendant is decorated in the manner of Giuseppe Bruno who was an enameler from Messina, Sicily (active c.1652-82).
The Victoria and Albert Museum holds a similarly enamelled pendant catalogued as in the style of Giuseppe Bruno (accession no. 1285-1871) and another example can be found in the Royal Collection Trust (accession no. RCIN 441486).
