Tray supported by 4 feet. Lacquered wood with a Nashiji (aventurine) background, the Takamaki-e (embossed lacquer) gold powder decoration has some details in silver powder, it represents a flowery and wooded garden. The inlays are in mother-of-pearl, bone and coral. Details in gold and silver kirikane (mosaic).The pistils of the flowers are in solid gold which is a guarantee of the optimal quality of this lacquer. The upper edge is reinforced with tin as it should be. This style of rich decoration appears during the second half of the 17th century. Very few of these lacquers have survived, they are usually small, the tray presented here is exceptionally large.

Worn lacquer, cracked top, some flowers clumsily replaced by plaster....350 years have passed.
