Pastoral Confidences - Mathide Demasur (1833 -1897)

Large Oil on canvas signed and dated 1886. Mathide Demasur painter born in Strasbourg in 1833, Daughter of Louis-Adolphe Demasur and Marie-Thérèse Virginie Houchard. Student of Eugene Faure, she debuted at the Paris Salon in 1869 with the portrait of an abbot. She produced other works using this technique. She was then living in Paris. French school of the 19th century, follower of François Boucher. The subject of our painting is a perfect example of the rural scenes and passionate love expressed in bucolic settings initiated by Madame de Pompadour who will define the essence of Rococo art, reflection of the joy of living of the court Rococo becomes a lifestyle based on refined senses and aesthetic satisfaction, a style dear to François Boucher. Painting presented in a beautiful 19th century oak leaf frame. Dimensions: Without frame, height 92cm, width 125cm, With frame, height 112cm, width 145 cm.
