This important Gothic wrought iron safe was made by Magaud de Charf in Marseille, France (1850-1890) and features a nail head motif on all four sides. It has a fully original working mechanism. The front door is further adorned with two large hinges on the sides. The interior opens to reveal a stunning locking mechanism and a large storage compartment. To open the safe, you must first find and locate the nail that will activate and open the right keyed latch. Then, by half inserting the smaller of the three keys, both latches on the left will open at the same time. Next, place the two large keys in each keyhole, one at a time.
