French ship's medicine cabinet in precious exotic wood 18th century

Precious wood travel medicine chest by Huang Huali. This chest contains a set of glass and pewter bottles filled with apothecary products. It contains its original labels and handwritten texts in French, including one dated 1777, testifying to its use on board a French ship in the second half of the 18th century.

This exceptional box illustrates the marriage of Eastern know-how and European apothecary practices. A rare piece steeped in history, perfectly preserved.
