Pierre FILLOEUL (1696-1754) famous engraver of the work of Jean-Baptiste PATER.
Gouache on vellum representing Le Glouton, after one of the most famous paintings by Jean-Baptiste PATER (1695-1736), inspired by the Contes de La Fontaine.
This scene was engraved in the same direction as the gouache by the Parisian engraver Pierre FILLOEUL (active between 1730 and 1750) as part of the Suites d'estampes nouvelles pour les Contes de La Fontaine.
A Louis XV period carved oak frame, richly decorated with a rocaille shell border at the top and retaining its original gilding.
