This series testifies to the exceptional expertise of the Schoelcher factory, which operated in Paris until 1834.
Victor Schoelcher, an emblematic figure in the abolition of slavery in France, played a crucial role in drafting the abolition decree of 1848. He became aware of the conditions of slavery after travelling to the southern United States to explore new markets.
The Musée Schoelcher in Pointe-à-Pitre, Guadeloupe, houses many examples of the porcelain produced by this prestigious factory.
