Empire mahogany wardrobe or cupboard, a mercury mirror on the front side, early 19th century production circa 1820.
Luxurious piece of furniture using mainly solid mahogany and very unusual and sought after plum pudding mahogany veneer, very finely chiseled gilt bronze ornamentation (ormolu) and candle holders.
Stamped .JACOB : it is the work of Francois Honore Georges Jacob, great Parisian cabinet maker and seatmaker, one of the most successful and fashionable in the years 1796 - 1825, son of Georges Jacob.
In excellent original condition with no accident or repair on the mahogany. Varnish has been refinished by our cabinetmaker. Minor lacks on the ormolu ornamentation. A slit in an inside shelf.
