This parrot is made of hard porcelain covered with turquoise and deep blue enamels, the paws are enameled with a pale yellow. The parrot is built in several parts molded separately and glued with slip, the traces of the junctions are visible in the photos. The head in 2 parts, is placed on the body also in 2 parts which is placed on the rock which seems to be in one part. The turquoise and blue glazes are very fusible and tend to flow during firing, we can see a pretty turquoise drop hanging at the end of the tail. Below the blue has slightly stuck in the oven. The beak does not seem to be enameled in color, but simply covered by an opaque glaze which by transparency lets see the yellowish of the porcelain. On the head the glaze is tormented by, probably, excessive heating, this is an effect that is found on porcelains of the Ming period. This is an interesting porcelain in good condition, no chips or cracks. No repairs. 255mm. Earlier Qing dynasty but perhaps before.17th century.
