This mid-18th century clock, made of painted and gilded wood, depicts Cronos, the personification of time in Greek mythology. The central figure of Cronos, an aged winged man, is sculpted with great expressiveness. His marked face and long beard evoke the passage of time.
Cronos is draped in a blue cloth adorned with stars, adding a vibrant touch of color. He is seated on a gilded scroll, characteristic of the Rocaille aesthetic. The clock itself is integrated into the composition, and the mechanical movement at the back is embellished with small red garnets, enhancing its precious nature.
