Small Louis XV style rocaille ormolu alcove wall-mounted cartel, with a chased ormolu movement, embellished with foliage and symmetrical bouquets of flowers. A circular domed glass bezel with right-hand pull-open protects a very soft white enamel dial signed by Boucheret in Paris; the black hours are finely painted in elongated Roman numerals and the minutes in Arabic numerals. The hands are finely openworked and gilded. Circular mechanism with pegged plate signed Boucherette in Paris, notched count wheel, hammer and gong are all present, but the mechanism dates from the second half of the 19th century. Boucheret, master clockmaker in Paris, officiating in the cloister of Saint-Denis de la Chatre in Paris in the 18th century, is listed on page 70 of Tardy's dictionary of French clockmakers.
