Pair of Antique style arm lights attributed to Jean-Louis PRIEUR circa 1770

Beautiful and interesting pair of Antique style arm lights
attributed to Jean-Louis PRIEUR (1732-1795)
Cast bronze, matt chased and gilded with mercury and leaf.
PARIS Transitional period Louis XV - Louis XVI circa 1770 - 1775
Two drawings of light arms very similar to our model have been attributed to Jean-Louis PRIEUR and published in Volume 1 of the book ‘Vergoldete Bronzen’.
( chapter 3 neoclassical or greek taste ). The garlands of laurel leaves falling on the arms, the oblong cassolette, the flat shaft with triglyph, the acanthus leaves around the arms and the laurel seed buds are recognisable.
Perfect condition. No restoration. Original gilding cleaned.
