Rectangular inkwell in red tortoiseshell veneer and scroll marquetry in the manner of A. Charles Boulle .
The top is encircled by an ingot mould, and holds the writing utensils: a large pen tray next to compartments for the inkwell and salts, and a storage compartment with lid in the center.
It opens with a wide front drawer, the belts highlighted with a brass fillet, small ball feet and gilt bronze carrying handle, original lock.
