Etienne MONDINEU entered the Bordeaux Fine Arts School in 1888, then the Paris Fine Arts School in 1893 in Albert MAIGNAN's studio, under the tutelage of JP LAURENS and B.CONSTANT. In 1897 he exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français where he received an honourable mention. He won several distinctions in 1900 and 1908, when he was awarded a prize out of competition. He could now exhibit without going through the jury selection process.
A member of the Société des Artistes Français from 1902, he attended all the salons. He devoted himself to large compositions acquired by the state and preserved in public collections, but also worked in other genres such as landscapes, intimate scenes, nudes and portraits.
